Switch 2 is an official release platform
Nintendo Switch 2 appears in both the English product page and Spike Chunsoft's launch announcement. It is a separate listed platform rather than an assumption based on backward compatibility.
The North American and European console release is scheduled alongside Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Release date and physical edition
The scheduled date is October 29, 2026. Switch 2 is also included in the physical-format list, together with the original Switch and PS5. Xbox and Steam remain digital-only in that official Western product summary.

Switch 2 vs. Switch: confirmed differences
At present, the confirmed difference is the platform SKU itself. The official English page does not list separate resolution targets, frame rates, loading claims, touchscreen behavior, or enhanced animation for Switch 2.
